Twenty miles south of Charlotte, North Carolina lies a city that’s a little over 34 square miles: Rock Hill, South Carolina. Rock Hill is probably known best for its proximity to Charlotte, but if you’re looking for quiet town with loads of southern hospitality to host your wedding, then Rock Hill would be an ideal place. Aside from its annual Come See Me festival, Rock Hill has a beautiful historical district, and three higher education institutions, all of which would be more than suitable to host your dream wedding. There are two parks in Rock Hill that are home to annual Easter pictures, and of course bridal and wedding party pictures: Cherry Park, and Glencairn Garden Park. Cherry Park has a more casual atmosphere and is full of shelters that would serve nicely if you were thinking of having a rehearsal cookout as opposed to the traditional formal rehearsal dinner. It has a newly renovated play area for children, a walking trail, tennis court, and baseball and softball field. This is ideal for a wedding that involves a lot of children. Glencairn Garden Park is much more formal, but also more scenic. There are no shelters for outdoor entertaining, but there is a large fountain in the middle of the park and decorative benches situated throughout the park. The best time to take pictures in Glencairn is spring when all the flowers are in bloom. There are many different species of flowers in almost every color imaginable. Besides the parks, Universities always have well maintained ballrooms, conference areas, and banquet halls that would be appropriate for those looking for a ceremony or reception venue. Each year, Winthrop University is a popular site for many national, regional, and state-wide ceremonies, and of course it is home to many weddings and receptions. Not too far from Winthrop in downtown Rock Hill, SC is the beautiful City Hall and city library. The city’s library is adorned with beautiful brick walkways, flowers, and fountains, and would make a beautiful backdrop for wedding photos. While you, your groom, and wedding coordinator take care of wedding arrangements, your guests can enjoy the Galleria, and Manchester Village shopping areas. Both shopping centers are conveniently within walking distance of hotels, theaters, restaurants, and the highway. The Galleria Mall has the traditional department stores while Manchester Village has outlet stores and specialty stores. These shopping areas are sure to keep your guests busy and entertained. Rock Hill, SC is known best for its small town charm and sweet southern hospitality, but it is also a city that can suit any bride of any budget. The parks, downtown area, and excitement that comes along with being the home of a major University, makes Rock Hill, SC an ideal place for weddings. Have you gotten married in Rock Hill or in another small southern town? We would love to hear your story! We’ve created our forums site specifically for our brides and their stories, so feel free to stop by and share the memories of your special day!
