When I was a child, my mom would plan me awesome birthday parties. She was a great event planner so I always had fun festivities to look forward to. But, because I would experience such a high leading up to and on the day of the party, I remember feeling a 'low' for the next day or two after.
I've heard a lot of brides that go through this. They plan and prepare for months - some even years - for one day! And then the nuptials are said and the honeymoon is taken and then ... what? A 'low' often referred to as 'post-wedding blues.'
So how can you blue-proof yourself? Throughout your entire engagement, remember that your preparing for a marriage, not just a wedding. You should be making arrangements for your lives together. Get excited about the new adventure that you and your spouse will be embarking on together. The ceremony and reception will be a beautiful and symbolic memory...but there are many more memories to be created!
