Honeymoon

When selecting a destination to honeymoon, it's important to prioritize what features are of interest to you. Not all destinations are ideal for everyone and not everyone has the same expectation for their honeymoon location. Before you jump into deciding between Paris and Hawaii, New York or the Caribbean, first determine what you hope to experience and surround yourself with (besides your new mate of course).

Romance

According to the Travel Industry Association in 2007, 20 percent of travel plans booked by adults in the United States were romance-related. Romantic vacations are characterized by candlelit dining, couple's massages, sunsets and plenty of one-on-one time.

Relaxation

Relaxation vacations are great for those who need an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. They typically entail beaches, solitude and tranquility. Ahhhhhh.

Adventure

Not everyone unwinds with relaxation; those with an adventurous heart need fresh air and action. Outdoor activities such as helicopter rides, spelunking, golfing and surfing are just the beginning for those seeking adventure.

Entertainment

Places to go and things to do - that's the mentality of those seeking entertainment on their honeymoon. Entertainment destinations typically include nightlife such as theatre, dining and dancing, as well as plenty of shopping.

Luxury

Honeymoons are a guilt free opportunity to enjoy a luxury vacation of gourmet dining and lavish accommodations, accompanied by first class services and amenities.

All-inclusive

The wedding preparations, alone, are overwhelming; but that doesn't mean the honeymoon has to be. With all-inclusive vacations, a majority of the fees are paid in advance and the itinerary has been laid out for you. You can then choose what you want to participate in once you arrive. Cruises and select resorts offer such comprehensive accommodations.

Culture/Sight Seeing/Exotic

If you want to use your honeymoon as an excuse to try something completely new, foreign travel may be your answer. You'll have the chance to take tours, see wildlife, meet intriguing people, taste fascinating foods and experience how other parts of the world live day by day.

Note that there are places that meet your criteria both near and far. If you prefer to stay within the county or even the Carolinas, there's a spot for you here. You could choose from North Carolina's Mountains, or Piedmont, South Carolina's Upcountry or Heartland or the beautiful beaches and coast in either of the Carolina's.  There are limitless attractions and accommodations for those seeking romance, relaxation, adventure, entertainment, luxury, all-inclusive locations or culture. Take your pick!
